Not so much because I lack resolve, but more because I have no real idea of where I want to get to in the short (or long) term.

This year I doubt it will be different, but I do hope to be able to get more involved. With my family, with my work, with my friends. 2008 was a year of disconnect for me - I was caught up in the pregnancy and birth of Lola, and the business relocation, and didn’t really seem to have much time for the rest.

I am hoping that this year ‘the haze will lift’ (as advised by Joel Steinbeck) and I will see some wonderful things.

You included.

We’ve got 5 new chickens, and said goodbye to an old one.

We’ve got the first flower ever on our banana palm.

We’ve seen blackbirds build a nest, raise their young, and teach them to fly right outside our kitchen window.

We’ve seen the Elk-horn in which the blackbirds nested fall to the ground not long after they left.

I’ve had a vasectomy, I’ve bought new shoes.

We’ve heard King Parrots calling to us, asking for seed.

We’ve had pigeons knock themselves out on the kitchen window.

We’ve taken our daughter to the chiropractor. Alot.

I’ve bought stupid toys that I’ll probably never use.

I have not broken 5 hours sleep for weeks, although it feels like years.

We’ve got friends who are thinking about moving out near us.

We’ve got friends who are moving out near us next week.

And I do not feel like writing about any of it.

Stacking Theory, for now, is the place I come to dump things.

It’s a bit of a mess at present, to be honest. I’m still trying to find out exactly how it works best for me. The current mix of random thoughts, links, and occasional considered content isn’t really heading this ship in the direction I thought it was.

I’ve been working on a slight re-design as you know, and you’ll probably see some ongoing changes as I try to simplify the design, and separate the content into two streams.

In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the ride - and feel free to let me know what you’re thinking.

The Criterion Collection

The Criterion Collection just launched their new web site, complete with the option to watch several movies online. It’s $5 for a week rental and that’s applied toward the cost of the film on DVD or Blu-ray. Not sure about the quality…the excellent intro movie on the home page says ‘high quality’…not sure if that means HD or what. There are only 17 movies online — including Au Revoir Les Enfants, Solaris, and Lord of the Flies — but they’ll be adding more as time goes on. (thx, jason, who did the illustration for the intro clip)
