Fanfare

No, there will be no tradition of naming every post after an Eric Matthews song (no matter how grand it is). Nor any song, for that matter.

So, with that out of the way – welcome to Stacking Theory. This will be my new bloggy home, for better or worse. Update your feed readers, your bookmarks, and your blogrolls (if you have been kind enough to link to gizoisbug already).

I’ll1 not attempt to explain the shift away from the wordpress.com blog. Let’s just put it down to ‘tinkering’.

As a man who has lately shown signs of a terrible inability to blog, it does seem strange, but as the tall man so often says – ‘meh’.

There’s been alot going round in my greasy head lately. I’ve scribbled notes to write about all sorts of things. From giving advice to people I’ve never met and know precious little about – notably advising them regarding the purchase (or non-purchase) of an automobile – through to a meandering discourse about Working Dog’s latest foray into TV-land, The Hollowmen.

I’ve pondered the impending arrival of another mini-gizo, and also a new cousin for The Hardman.

And mostly, I’ve just been trying to keep my head above, depsite illness, winter, and work-based distemper.

Lastly, for what it’s worth, I have been enjoying the latest bunch of posts by my Mann Crush. Over at 43 Folders, Merlin has been gifting us a great set of posts about managing Time and Attention, and who has access to it. While I am certainly no convert of GTD (not necessarily for lack of want), I am witness to this strange belief in my workplace – that anyone and everyone owns our attention. I see it affecting my co-workers regularly, and I find Merlin’s staunch defense of his space intriguing, inspiring, and interesting. I’m currently trying to figure out the best way to integrate this into the ‘open door’ workplace I spend altogether too much time in.

Which reminds me – dammit I wish I didn’t have to work 5 days a week. The sick days that I’ve taken lately have been sweetened considerably by the time-spent with The Hardman and The Kym. They rock my world.

Hopefully I’ll be more regular from here on in – now that I am paying for it.

Today’s post was brought to you by a nasty headcold, a good dose of coffee, and Memminger Lager – a beer so nasty, it’s free.

  1. The pattern-seekers among you may notice at this point that I have also chosen not to make the first word of every paragraph rhyme – although I did consider it.

oooh! another gizo blog – hate to think what you’d be capable of with good lager and no head cold! xx

the precious little you know about us is probably worth more than you think; underneath the facade of the blog we’re actually both really really boring. we have no friends. practically no social life. we actually enjoy being hermits. how weird is that?

and your advice is valued; why wouldn’t it be? you’re cool.

nice new site, but i kinda miss the little green bear-man. :(

@vetti not ‘a’ new blog, ‘the’ new blog. gizoisbug, thebrew, and 6120 are retired

@wildschwein heh, ‘cool’ – you totally don’t know what you say. Your habbits make you sound like regular little Linux-loovers ;)

I’ll work on getting the bogan installed on the blog somewhere too.

Also, apologies to anyone who has a OS that lacks the ability to make Courier look sassy.

and, eek, looks like to need to mojo-up the comments – thre’s some oops in the colours there…
